NCMS, in partnership with Ethereal Technologies, has formed a project that will evaluate the use of a new generation of ergonomic, 3-D imaging in DoD and industry settings for remote equipment maintenance, product design, and telepresence training. Project participants include:
The core of this research project is the application of Ethereal Technology's Volumetric Imaging (VIS4D) workstation to solve real world manufacturing, training, and heavy equipment maintenance problems. The VIS4D workstation allows users to see in realtime, true stereo images without the use of conventional virtual reality devices such as head gear or goggles. The workstation comprises:
The mirror, licensed exclusively by Ethereal Technologies, is at the heart of this new technology. Both industry and DoD, as participants in the Interactive Visualization project will explore a few of the tremendous number of applications for this revolutionary imaging station. NCMS and its project team participants are always interested in other companies who either may have a need for such technology, or can assist in bringing technology to commercialization. If you would like to learn how you or your company can participate in this project, contact Chuck Ryan, NCMS Program Manager at (734)995-4905 or chuckr@ncms.org.
